Objects & event types in the WordPress activity log
Every event in the WordPress activity log is a record of a user action or change on the website. In every event you can find all the metadata about that change, mainly: the event ID, severity level, date, time, user, user role, source IP address, object, event type and the message itself.
In this document you will find a list of all the possible objects and event types used in the WordPress activity log. Refer to the WordPress activity log metadata for more details about the other metadata used in the activity log.
WordPress activity log objects
The object in a WordPress activity log event refers to the object that has changed. For example, if a user changes a password the object of the event will be user because the event is about a change in a WordPress user profile. Objects enable you to quickly get an idea what the event is about, and can also be used as a filter.

WordPress activity log event types
The event type in a WordPress activity log event describes the type of change the event is reporting. For example, when a plugin is activated the event type is activated. When an editor publishes a post or a page, or a store manager publishes a new product in WooCommerce, the event type is published. Event types enable you to quickly get an idea what the event is about, and can also be used as a filter.
