2025: Year in Review

Much like the years before it, 2025 seemed to fly past in the blink of an eye. It was a year of change for Melapress, one that asked us to reflect, re-prioritize, and make some difficult but important decisions about where we focus our time and energy.

As we move into 2026, we wanted to take a moment to look back on what 2025 has been all about. From product development and team changes to community involvement and customer support, here’s a recap of the year behind us.

Team changes and a change in direction

2025 marked a transition year for Melapress.

Over the course of the year, we made a conscious shift in direction. This meant that some channels and initiatives that were once a focal point received less attention, or, in the case of one of our plugins, were phased out entirely. These decisions were necessary to ensure we stay focused on delivering the most value where it matters most.

This shift also resulted in a number of team changes. We said goodbye to some familiar faces and welcomed new ones. Change is never easy, and transitions like these can take time on all sides. We’re grateful for the contributions everyone made while they were part of the team, and we sincerely wish those who moved on every success in whatever comes next.

As always, the people behind Melapress, past and present, remain one of our greatest strengths.

Plugin updates and numbers

2025 was another busy year on the product front, with 27 total releases across our plugin portfolio. While the number of releases was slightly lower than in previous years, the focus shifted more toward deeper integrations, stability, and long-requested improvements.

WP Activity Log

WP Activity Log had a particularly active year, with 13 releases shipped in 2025.

A major focus this year was expanding support for WordPress management platforms. We added integrations for tools such as ModularDS, WPUmbrella, ManageWP, and others, making it easier for agencies and administrators to manage activity logs across multiple sites. We also continued to expand compatibility with popular plugins, adding and improving support for tools like RankMath and Paid Memberships Pro, as well as improving our support of others, including WooCommerce.

One of our most requested features finally made its way into the plugin as well: the ability to add notes directly to the activity log viewer, helping teams add context and documentation directly where it’s needed.

In terms of adoption, WP Activity Log briefly crossed the 300,000 active installations milestone during the year. While it dipped slightly afterward, it has since returned to that level. At the time of writing, it’s once again sitting at 300K, and we’re hopeful we’ll be able to officially announce this milestone very soon!

WP 2FA

WP 2FA saw 8 releases throughout 2025, with a strong focus on flexibility and modern authentication methods. Key updates included:

  • New REST API endpoints
  • Zero-setup email-based 2FA
  • Support for passkeys

These additions further expanded WP 2FA’s role as a flexible authentication solution for WordPress sites of all sizes.

The plugin also continued its steady growth, reaching 90,000 active installations during 2025.

Melapress Login Security

Melapress Login Security received 3 releases in 2025. One of the standout additions was temporary passwordless login via secure login links, making it easier to grant time-limited access without compromising security. Alongside this, the team focused on addressing various security issues and improving overall stability.

Melapress Role Editor

2025 also saw the launch of Melapress Role Editor. This was a relatively low-key release, with no major marketing push. Instead, the focus was on initial testing and gathering early feedback. Despite this, the plugin reached 50+ active installations, giving us valuable insights to shape its future development.

CAPTCHA 4WP

CAPTCHA 4WP received 2 releases in 2025. This plugin was sold to WPKube at the start of the year, allowing it to continue growing under new ownership.

File Monitor

Melapress File Monitor continued to be available as a free solution. While it didn’t see any major releases in 2025, it remained stable and reliable for users who rely on it to monitor file changes on their websites.

Admin Notices Manager

Our smallest plugin, Admin Notices Manager, received one maintenance release in 2025 and hit the 10.000 installs mark, ensuring continued compatibility and stability.

Support

Supporting our customers remains a top priority, and 2025 was no exception.

Over the year, we handled 2,614 support conversations, including 131 live chats, and spoke with 1,916 different customers. This averaged out to about 7 conversations per day, with October being the busiest month and Tuesday the busiest day of the week.

Here’s how support performed in 2025:

  • 88% of customers rated our support as great, with 5% rating it as OK
  • Average email response time: 18 hours and 27 minutes
  • Average first email response time: 15 hours and 40 minutes
  • Average live chat wait time: 49 seconds
  • Average live chat response time: 1 minute and 1 second
  • 54% of issues were resolved on the first reply
  • Average number of replies to resolution: 2.11
  • Average resolution time: 3 days and 14 hours

While there’s always room to improve, we’re proud of the consistency and quality of support delivered throughout the year.

Sponsorships & community

In 2025, we continued to invest in the WordPress community through sponsorships, events, and content. We sponsored WordCamp Europe 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, as well as Nathan Wrigley’s Page Builder Summit.

Throughout the year, the team attended six WordCamps and meetups. Our CEO, Robert Abela, gave talks at WordCamp Gdynia and the WordPress Meetup Nijmegen, and also took part in various panels and podcast appearances. You can read more about Robert’s take on 2025 on his blog.

In addition, we launched a weekly podcast and live session series, streamed on YouTube and published across all major podcast platforms. Over the course of 2025, we released 32 episodes.

For those interested in a deeper dive into Melapress’s marketing efforts, Bram published a post on his website covering the year in marketing in more depth.

Charities and Five for the Future

Giving back remained an important part of what we do in 2025. We donated a percentage of our profits to several charities, including:

  • Jungle Keepers
  • Animal rescue ambulance in the Netherlands (Dieren Ambulance – local)
  • Local scouts group

We also contributed more than 100 hours to the Five for the Future initiative, continuing our commitment to supporting the WordPress ecosystem.

Team building

In 2025, the team came together in person in Malta and Gozo. Spending time together outside of screens remains incredibly valuable to us, strengthening relationships and reminding us how fortunate we are to work as a distributed team across Europe.

Plans for 2026

As we head into 2026, we’re carrying forward the lessons learned in 2025. With a clearer focus, ongoing product improvements, and continued involvement in the WordPress community, we’re excited about what lies ahead.

There’s plenty already in the works, and we’re looking forward to another year of building tools that help WordPress users better secure and manage their websites.

Finally, we want to thank you, our customers, readers, partners, and everyone who has supported Melapress throughout the year. Your trust and feedback continue to shape what we do.

Here’s to a successful 2026.

Cheers!
