WCEU 2022 was a blast – here’s what we got up to

On the 1st of June, the WP White Security Team made its way to Porto, Portugal, from all over Europe. The mission: attend WCEU and spend some time together. For some of us, it was the first time meeting in person (we are a remote company, and COVID has complicated traveling for the past two years), and the anticipation was high.

Meeting the team was a lot of fun. We ate, drank, discussed every topic under the sun, and worked together. While remote work has a lot of benefits, the opportunity to work together also has its perks, so we made sure we make the most out of it. We also managed to sneak a sightseeing tour of the hosting city, which I most definitely recommend if you are planning a holiday but don’t have a destination in mind yet. The Duoro Valley is truly breathtaking.

The show’s star, and I’m sure the whole team would agree with me here, was WCEU. The event, spread over two days, was filled to the brim with insightful talks and productive workshops, which, suffice to say, everyone at WP White Security took something away from.

As a first-time attendee, I must admit that the conference was not quite what I expected. It was much better.

The diversity of the attendees was impressive. You see people from all walks of life converging in one location to share ideas, discuss, and learn about WordPress. There was something for everyone, be it developers, product managers, marketers, administrators, users, and everyone in between. The sense of community was astounding, and I wholeheartedly recommend attendance to anyone sitting on the fence about it.

As one of the sponsors, we had the privilege to meet many existing customers and partners. Equally, we also had the pleasure of discussing how our plugins can contribute to better WordPress administration and security with those looking for a new, solid solution.

The conversations were invigorating and have continued to fuel the fire inside us to continue making truly great WordPress plugins.

Closing the event was Matt Mullenweg, co-founder of WordPress. He spoke about upcoming WordPress changes and answered questions from the audience. We are definitely excited about the future of WordPress and are most looking forward to continuing to contribute to this fantastic platform.
